Abelia, Sherwood (Dwarf White)
Abelia grandiflora 'Sherwoodii'
Discontinued
A moderate growing growing semi-evergreen shrub with a round form, and medium dense mass.
It is often used as a small hedge and takes trimming well. Blooms best in full sun but will tolerate part shade. Blooms start in the spring on new growth and continue to appear till the first frost and are somewhat fragrant. It will tolerate worse conditions, but not worth any aesthetic looks. Fertilize in the late winter.
Leaves are simple and opposite, ovate rounded. Three-quarters to an inch long, shiny on top. New growth is purple, turning green.
