Mahonia, Leather Leaf
Mahonia japonica 'Bealei'
Mahonia is also known as the Oregon Grape Holly due to the resemblance of the leaves and the purple fruits in the summer. It's a shade loving evergreen shrub that grows a total of eight feet high and four feet wide. Fragrant yellow blooms in the spring, even in full shade. Although slow growing, Mahonia spreads easily with its underground roots.
