Flame Acanthus
Anisacanthus quadrifidus (var. wrightii)
Discontinued
Texas native drought tolerant perennial that is great for seasonal hedges and borders. Multiple red-orange blooms cover the long slender stems, attracting hummingbirds and butterflies throughout the warm season. Will go dormant in the winter and appreciates a heavy pruning of dead foliage.
Doesn't mind poor soils as long as adequate drainage is existant. No serious pest or disease problems.
