Native to Connecticut, Florida, and Texas, the Coral Honeysuckle is a perfect vine for any landscape as it tolerates full sun, heat, and drought conditions. Although related to the Japanese honeysuckle, this specimen is much more manageable in the landscape and will not suffocate or engulf neighboring plants.
It is highly recommended to trim back in the fall, as Coral Honeysuckle's best attribute, the blooms, only appear on new growth. The clusters of tube-shaped flowers appear early in the spring till the fall; they are two inches long on average, coral-red on the outside with a yellow throat. Hummingbirds and butterflies are easily attracted to the flowers, and in the fall birds enjoy the fruits.
