Russian Sage 'Bluesette’ (Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Bluesette’) is a dwarf variety of the classic Russian Sage, offering the same airy, lavender-blue flower spikes and silvery-green foliage but in a more compact, manageable size. It reaches 18 to 22 inches tall and wide, making it ideal for small garden spaces, borders, or mass plantings. Space plants 18 inches apart if planting in groups. The blooms appear from late spring through fall, attracting butterflies, bees, and other pollinators while being deer and rabbit resistant due to its fragrant foliage.
This drought-tolerant perennial thrives in full sun and well-drained, alkaline soil, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping or dry Texas landscapes. It is highly tolerant of heat and poor soils, but does not perform well in wet or heavy clay conditions. Regular pruning in late winter or early spring helps maintain a tidy shape and encourages fresh growth.
Hardy in USDA Zones 4-9, ‘Bluesette’ can withstand Texas summers and mild winters, though it may struggle in areas with excessive humidity or poor air circulation.
