Gaura Belleza® Dark Pink (Oenothera lindheimeri 'Belleza Dark Pink') is a compact, long-blooming selection of the Texas native gaura that delivers vibrant dark pink flowers from spring through fall. Unlike older gaura varieties that can become tall and open, the Belleza series was bred for a denser, more uniform habit, typically reaching 18 to 24 inches tall and wide. The deep pink blooms are held above the foliage on slender stems, creating a soft, airy appearance that adds movement to the landscape. As a selection of a Texas native species, it is exceptionally well adapted to the heat, drought, and challenging growing conditions found throughout much of Texas.

Gaura performs best in full sun and well-drained soils. It tolerates a wide range of soil types, including the alkaline soils common across Central and West Texas, and once established requires relatively little supplemental irrigation. Heavy clay soils are acceptable if drainage is improved, but consistently wet conditions can shorten the plant's lifespan. Deer typically leave gaura alone, making it a valuable choice for rural landscapes and areas with heavy browsing pressure. It is also non-toxic to people and pets based on current references.

One of the greatest strengths of this plant is its value to pollinators. The nectar-rich flowers attract butterflies, native bees, and other beneficial insects throughout the growing season. Because it blooms continuously for months, it provides reliable color when many other perennials are between flowering cycles. It works exceptionally well in native plant gardens, pollinator gardens, cottage-style landscapes, xeriscapes, mass plantings, and mixed perennial borders. Plant spacing of 18 to 24 inches on center allows individual plants to fill in while maintaining good air circulation.

In Central Texas, Gaura is remarkably heat tolerant and often continues flowering through periods of intense summer weather when other perennials struggle. Plants may become semi-evergreen during mild winters and typically return quickly from the crown in colder regions of the state. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–9, it is suitable for nearly all of Texas, from the Hill Country and Blackland Prairie to North Texas and much of the Gulf Coast, providing years of dependable color with minimal maintenance.
